Here’s a writing practice I love which can help you get clarity on what you want. It was inspired by writer and Zen Buddhist, Natalie Goldberg. I call it the Stream of Desires.

Stream of Desires
To connect with what you really want, it is helpful to get it all out on paper. The following exercise will help you uncover and discover your dreams and desires that have been hiding beneath the surface.

You will need pen and paper for this practice.
Find a place free of distractions.
You will be writing about what you really want for yourself, no limits.
Choose a starter phrase such as: When I was a child I wanted to be.... or I have always wanted to.... If I could do anything I would…. What I really want is…
Set a timer for 15-20 minutes. Start writing and do NOT take your pen off the paper - just keep writing no matter what comes out next - and continue doing this until the time is up.
Read what you have written.
Highlight the ones that stick out for you and include the top 3 in the form above.
